Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, confirmed on Monday that he has temporarily left Nigeria, citing the need to prioritize his “sanity and health.” The controversial cross-dresser shared his decision on Instagram, just days after a turbulent encounter with local security agencies.
“Yes, I’m here to confirm I’m out of Nigeria temporarily. I need to attend to my sanity and my health,” Bobrisky wrote, detailing frustrations over recent travel disruptions that reportedly involved Nigerian security agencies. He added that KLM Airlines should refund him for two business-class tickets, each costing N9.8 million, which he was unable to use due to travel restrictions.
“Imagine buying a business class ticket three times; only one was successful,” he vented, disclosing that only on November 3, 2024, was he able to depart successfully. “KLM, I hope you guys refund me the two I didn’t use. I know it’s not your fault, but it’s fine.”
Bobrisky also responded to potential critics of his high-spending lifestyle, urging them to “check your account balance” before criticizing his choices. He implied that, being abroad, online backlash has little impact on him.
This departure follows a recent high-profile run-in with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The cross-dresser was removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight at Lagos' Murtala Muhammed International Airport, attempting to travel to London on November 2. The incident reportedly left him injured and led to his detainment by the EFCC, where he was questioned on alleged attempts to bribe officials with N15 million to drop money laundering charges.
Following interrogation, Bobrisky denied any bribery attempts in a confessional statement, securing his release on bail. Now, his temporary exit from Nigeria amid lingering legal disputes and health concerns has drawn attention from fans and critics alike.
