In a moment marking strengthened ties across the African continent, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has extended his warm congratulations to Ghana's Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey on her election as the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.

President Tinubu praised Botchwey’s vast experience and dedication, stating that her leadership will be pivotal in addressing pressing issues within the Commonwealth, including youth empowerment, economic development, and climate resilience.
"Her election is not only a proud achievement for Ghana but a beacon for Africa’s growing influence in global governance," Tinubu remarked, highlighting the deep-rooted connection between Nigeria and Ghana.
Botchwey’s appointment has been met with enthusiasm across the Commonwealth, as leaders anticipate a reinvigoration of the organization’s core values of democracy, peace, and cooperation.
