Governor Mbah Approves N80,000 Minimum Wage for Enugu Workers, Pioneering New Era of Labor Reform

In a landmark decision for labor in Enugu State, Governor Peter Mbah has officially approved a new minimum wage of N80,000 for workers.
This bold move sets a significant precedent, marking Enugu as one of the leading states in Nigeria in prioritizing workers' welfare amidst the ongoing national dialogue about fair wages and inflation.

The governor's decision comes after weeks of deliberation with labor unions and state officials, who had been advocating for an increase due to the rising cost of living.

The new wage structure is expected to benefit thousands of civil servants and boost morale across various sectors in the state.

Speaking on the development, Governor Mbah highlighted that the increase reflects his administration’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of Enugu residents.

“This is a step towards ensuring that the hardworking people of our state can live with dignity and economic security,” he said.

Labor union leaders have praised the governor’s decision, calling it a victory for workers and a sign of progressive leadership.

The policy will come into effect in the next fiscal quarter, and stakeholders are hopeful it will set a positive trend for other states to follow.

With this move, Governor Mbah has not only improved the lives of civil servants in Enugu but has also positioned the state as a leader in labor reform in Nigeria.
