On October 1, 2024, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command successfully apprehended four notorious kidnappers linked to a series of violent abductions across the region.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers tracked down the suspects identified as YAU SANI, a.k.a. Baba (an ex-convict), NUHU, a.k.a. Giwa, KABIRU MOHAMMED, and YUSUF HASSAN at a hideout in Sauka, Abuja, where they had been living among the general population.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted to being responsible for multiple kidnappings that resulted in the deaths of seven victims. Their crime spree spanned various locations, including Dakwa, Dawaki, Aco Estate, Dupe Village, Zuma Rock, and villages in Niger and Kaduna states.
In a further investigation, police were led to a secondary hideout in Gauraka Forest, Suleja, Niger State, where they recovered a significant cache of weapons: four AK-47 rifles, thirteen magazines, and 162 rounds of live ammunition.

Additionally, the gang disclosed plans to target government institutions and estates within the FCT, intentions that were swiftly thwarted by the proactive measures of the police.
