In a surprising revelation, Abdulmumuni Abiola, one of the sons of the late Nigerian business mogul and political icon, Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola, has disclosed that his father left a sum of £650,000 for his first four wives.
This information has emerged more than two decades after the death of MKO Abiola, the man known for his political ambition and philanthropy across Nigeria.
According to Abdulmumuni, his father, a man of immense wealth and influence, took special care in providing for his family, leaving behind a significant amount to ensure the well-being of his early spouses.
While MKO Abiola had numerous wives and children, the allocation to his first four wives has garnered attention as it reflects his deep sense of responsibility toward those who were with him during the earlier stages of his life.
The Abiola family, often seen as one of the most prominent in Nigeria’s history, has been under the public eye for many reasons, including MKO’s controversial death in 1998 following his detention by Nigeria’s military regime.
He was the presumed winner of the annulled 1993 Nigerian presidential election, a victory that was never realized.
Abdulmumuni’s statement highlights the late patriarch’s meticulous planning in his will, ensuring his legacy continues through both his family and the many beneficiaries of his charitable acts.
