In an unexpected turn of events following the severe flooding in Maiduguri, a crocodile was found in a residential home in the Polo General area.
The reptile, believed to have been displaced from its natural habitat due to the rising floodwaters, sent waves of shock and fear through the community.
Residents of the affected area have been grappling with the aftermath of heavy rains, which have caused widespread flooding and forced many from their homes.
However, no one anticipated encountering a wild animal in their living space.
Eyewitnesses recount the terrifying discovery as the large crocodile was spotted lurking in the backyard of a family’s home, where children usually play.
A local resident, Usman Ibrahim, said, "It was unbelievable! We are used to dealing with floods here, but never a crocodile. Everyone was terrified."
Authorities were alerted immediately, and a team of wildlife experts arrived on the scene to safely capture the reptile.
It has since been relocated to a secure area, and no injuries were reported.
Local officials continue to urge residents to stay vigilant, as more displaced wildlife could potentially find their way into residential areas due to the ongoing flooding.
