Bauchi Protests: Police Fire Teargas to Disperse Youths Protesting High Cost of Living

In Bauchi metropolis on Thursday, police operatives fired teargas to disperse protesters who had taken to the streets to protest the high cost of living in the country.
The demonstrators, predominantly young people, carried placards with various inscriptions, while some held leaves, chanting “Adalci muke so” (all we want is justice) in Hausa.

The protest began at the CBN Roundabout, with participants marching towards Yakubun Bauchi road, aiming to reach the Government House to express their grievances. However, they were intercepted by security forces at the roundabout. Despite this, the protesters were determined to continue, prompting the police to fire teargas to break up the crowd.

Undeterred, the protesters regrouped and marched towards Wunti Gate, proceeding through Kobi Street. Once again, they were halted by security personnel stationed around Wunti Gate, resulting in another dispersal attempt by the authorities.
