Presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale has refuted a circulating statement allegedly attributed to President Bola Tinubu, labeling it as "fake." On Saturday, Ngelale emphasized that the statement did not come from the Presidency.
"Based on recent inquiries, I wish to reiterate that this is fake and does not emanate from the Presidency," Ngelale stated.
His clarification follows numerous inquiries about the authenticity of the widely shared statement on social media platforms. The fake statement, titled "Tinubu Speaks," falsely claimed that President Tinubu had announced several sweeping reforms, including a 50% reduction in his salary and those of top government officials, the scrapping of the Office of the First Lady, the sale of presidential aircraft, the consolidation of government ministries, and the restoration of fuel and electricity subsidies.
The Presidency has consistently warned against the spread of misinformation and urged Nigerians to verify information through official channels before sharing.
