The letter detailed the police's position, stating, "We acknowledge the receipt of your request and assure you that the Nigeria Police Force is dedicated to safeguarding the constitutional rights of all citizens, including the right to peaceful assembly and protest."
CP Johnson Adenola further outlined the measures that will be taken to ensure the safety of all participants during the protest.
"Adequate security personnel will be deployed to manage the protest, prevent any form of violence, and ensure the protection of all demonstrators. We urge the organizers to cooperate with the police to maintain peace and order."
The #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest is scheduled to take place in major cities across the country, with participants calling for comprehensive reforms and accountability in government operations.
The movement, spearheaded by the Take It Back organization, aims to address issues such as corruption, poor governance, and the need for improved public services.
Adegboruwa, in his initial request, highlighted the importance of police protection to prevent any potential clashes and to ensure that protesters can express their demands without fear of violence or intimidation.
He emphasized the constitutional rights of citizens to assemble peacefully and to demand better governance.
The Nigeria Police Force's response is seen as a positive step towards ensuring a peaceful and orderly protest, with many activists and citizens expressing hope that the authorities will uphold their commitment to protecting the rights of demonstrators.
As the date of the protest approaches, all eyes will be on the Nigeria Police Force to see how effectively they manage the event and whether they can provide the necessary protection to foster a peaceful demonstration.
