Nigeria is Not the Only Country Facing Hardship, Says President Tinubu; Warns Against Economic Sabotage

President Bola Tinubu has emphasized that Nigeria is not alone in facing suffering and hardship, urging the populace to avoid economic sabotage.
Speaking in Lagos while receiving a delegation from the National Assembly, President Tinubu stressed the necessity for a new value system to drive progress in Nigeria. The visit coincided with the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, and the delegation came to extend their felicitations on Monday night.

President Tinubu's message underscored the significance of values in shaping the nation's development. He urged citizens to adopt a new value system that prioritizes hard work, discipline, integrity, patriotism, and unity.

Assuring Nigerians of his administration’s commitment to overcoming economic challenges, Tinubu stated, “Yes, there is poverty; there is suffering in the land. We are not the only people facing such, but we must face our challenges. We must find a way to eliminate banditry and terrorism so that farmers can bring out food from the farmlands.

“If you do not have good roads to bring the food to the population, even if you grow the food and you are losing 60-70 percent to damage, you will pay the price.”

The President stressed that a change in the national value system is essential for progress. The delegation, led by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, included Deputy Senate President Senator Jibrin Barau and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon Benjamin Kalu, among others.

“Good economics at a harsh time is the challenge that we must face. As I said in my speech, no matter how difficult it is and how challenging it can be, I will not turn my back on Nigeria,” President Tinubu stated, urging citizens to change their mindset about Nigeria to overcome current challenges.

“There is a need to stop smuggling and all economic sabotage. Why should we have people removing rail tracks and all that, stealing electric cables, and sabotaging the economy? We must embrace the campaign to change our value system.

“We must tell our people that the challenge we face is for all of us to change our mindset about our country,” Tinubu said.
