The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) Secretariat recently sent a letter to the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, regarding alleged fraudulent activities of the Director-General of the forum, A B Okauru.
In the petition dated May 17, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, the NGF Director, Media and Public Affairs, outlined the illegal activities of Okauru and urged the Chairman of the forum to initiate a forensic audit of the financial records from the past 15 years to uncover the extent of financial impropriety under the DG's leadership.
Additionally, there have been reports of threats made against me and my family by Okauru. I have taken these threats seriously and have taken steps to ensure the safety of my loved ones. I have reported the matter to the appropriate authorities and sought protection.
I have also reached out to the Northern Governors’ Forum, the Northeast Governors’ Forum, and the Governor of Adamawa State for support and protection. I want to make it clear that I am still an employee of the NGF, and no DG has the authority to dismiss me through non-procedural means. Only the Chairman or a committee of governors has the power to make decisions regarding my employment.
I believe it is important to shed light on the issues within the NGF, despite the risks to my safety and reputation. I have faced baseless accusations from journalists, but I am committed to addressing the unethical conduct of Okauru.
I have initiated legal action against Okauru, and further details will be revealed in court and in the public domain.
These are serious allegations, and I am taking the necessary steps to address them through the appropriate channels.
