Pilgrims from Kebbi State who were set to embark on the first flight to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2024 Hajj exercise have commenced their journey.
The governor of the state, Nasir Idris, made the announcement in a statement shared on his official platform on Wednesday.
The airlift of Nigerian pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2024 Hajj exercise was officially launched at the Sir Muhammadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, as stated in the announcement.
Governor Idris expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima for their invaluable support in organizing the 2024 Hajj, emphasizing the significance of their commitment to the success of religious pilgrimages.
He also extended appreciation to NAHCON for choosing Kebbi State as the location for the inaugural flight and commended the collective efforts of his team and various state governments involved in the event.
Furthermore, he urged the pilgrims to utilize the pilgrimage as an opportunity for spiritual renewal and to pray for the nation and its leaders, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the success of the Hajj season and upholding high standards.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Tinubu at the event, revealed that the Federal Government subsidized the 2024 Hajj with N90 billion during the flag-off of the inaugural airlift of the 2024 Hajj exercise at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi.
