During today's resumption of Plenary, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Tajudeen Abbas, proposed the establishment of a dedicated fund to protect schools from attacks. This move aims to address the spate of attacks on schools in recent times. The fund would support the implementation of advanced security measures and the training of security personnel and communities on strategies for protecting educational environments.
Dr. Abbas also mentioned that the House would continue to engage in dialogues with security operatives to identify legislative gaps hindering operational effectiveness. Additionally, the lawmakers recommended the establishment of a joint task force to address illegal mining and mineral theft.
The Speaker further emphasized that the 10th Assembly would continue to support the executive arm of the government in improving the nation's democratic and socioeconomic development.
