The All Progressive Congress (APC) has secured a landslide victory in the recently concluded Council elections held in Gombe State, winning all Local Government Area (LGA) seats. The announcement was made by the chairman of the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission (GOSIEC), Malam Saidu Awak.
Out of the 19 registered political parties in the state, only five participated in the elections, with the APC emerging victorious in all 11 LGAs. The party also claimed victory in all 114 councillorship seats, with results already announced at the polling units due to the exclusive participation of APC candidates.
The elections were conducted peacefully, according to reports from the electoral commission's chairman, with returning officers officially declaring the APC winners in all LGAs. Notable winners include Mal Mohammed Adamu for Akko LG Chairman, Malam Ibrahim Salisu Balanga, Mrs. Egla Idris Billiri, Malam Adamu Waziri Dukku, Alhaji Shuaibu Adamu Funakaye, Mr Sani Haruna Gombe, Mr. Iliya Jatau Kaltungo, Malam Ahmed Wali Kwami, Mr. Babangida Adamu Nafada, Hajiya Fatima-Binta Bello Shongom, and Malam Abubakar Hassan Yamaltu/Deba. In response to the outcome, Alhaji Mohammed Garba, the chairman of Accord Party Gombe, stated that their party contested the election to demonstrate its presence in Gombe and wished the winners a successful tenure.
