Journalists and Families Abducted in Nighttime Raid by Bandits in Kaduna

Bandits launched a nighttime attack on the Dahjonu community in Millennium City, located in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting two journalists and their families.
The kidnapped journalists are Abdulgafar Alabelewe of The Nation, who also serves as the chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kaduna State Council, and AbdulRaheem Abdu of Blueprint newspaper.

The attack occurred around 10:30 PM, with the bandits shooting indiscriminately before seizing their victims. Taofeeq Olayemi, a family member of one of the victims, reported that Alabelewe, his wife, and two children were taken, along with Abdu and his ailing wife, leaving their sick daughter behind. Abdu’s wife was later released due to her health condition.

Attempts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, for comments were unsuccessful as his phone was not connecting at the time of this report.
